My youngest daughter loves animals. She loves travelling as well. When she goes on her travels she leaves whatever pet she has with me to look after. Turns out that "looking after " means the pet then becomes mine.

My daughter got Tabby as a young kitten. It was the runt of the litter and only had one eye and was very feral. Tabby became the family cat and was loved by all. She had a mind of her own and would love the outdoors and disappear into the nearby woodlands and forest for hours at a time.

Tabby became my pet when my daughter moved to Australia and I spent many happy years with Tabby. I became older and so did Tabby and when she was on her last legs she reverted to being feral again and refused to stay indoors. If it was raining I'd bring her inside but she only stayed on my bed with me to placate me for a while and would then head off to her special place in the garden again. Tabby passed on the 14 July 2023 and is resting in peace now.
